The Mists

There are solo and duo variants: the Mists and the Greater Mists. Nobody else can follow you through a Mists portal, but there may already be other players in a Mists region. You will display as "Mysterious Stranger" to other players. Mists regions will close after a certain time, but you can dive deeper in by finding new Will'o Wisps or entering Knightfall Abbey.
